I can't help but think of Gustave Doré and its illustrations of hell, watching the desperate configurations of a large swarm of boids under attack within a too small constraint volume. The project began experimenting with the predator/ prey behaviour, which can be simply expressed as a rule that defines a different proximity to boids belonging to different classes. From these dynamic (but frozen) configurations it's possible to feel the emerging quality of 'fear'.
